There are a lot of food items that you must avoid feeding your pet. Human food is not well-suited for your pet, not just for the fear of increasing their weight but for the fact that certain foods can cause serious health problems and are very dangerous for them. Food as common as salt can prove to have harmful effects on your four-legged best friend! To avoid any untoward accident, here is a list of people’s food to avoid feeding your pet.

1. Alcoholic drinks
Food and drinks containing alcohol should not be fed to the pets as alcohol can be very dangerous for them. Feeding these can cause decreased body coordination, vomiting, diarrhea, breathing problems, central nervous system breakdown, tremors, or even death.

2. Caffeine and chocolate
Methylxanthines is a substance found in the fruit of the coffee plant, cocoa seeds, or in nuts of the soda extracts. If this substance is ingested by your pet, it can cause panting, vomiting, diarrhea, hyperactivity, excess urination, and tremors, among other effects.

3. Raisins and grape
If these food items are ingested by the pet, it can lead to severe kidney failure. The pet owners must avoid feeding raisins and grapes to their pets.

4. Garlic, onion, and chives
These herbs and vegetables can cause a serious issue of gastrointestinal irritability, leading to RBC damage. It is better to avoid these food items to prevent your pet from developing any kind of disease or infection.

5. Salt
If the pet is fed with a large amount of salt or salty food item, it can lead to sodium ion poisoning and even produce an excess of urine. Vomiting, diarrhea, increased body temperature, and tremors, among others, are some of the signs to look for if your pet has consumed a large amount of salty food.

6. Xylitol food items
Baked goods, candy, and toothpaste, all three contain xylitol, which is harmful to pets. If the pet has ingested this type of food item, it can lead to liver failure or even a drop in their blood sugar levels.

7. Avocado
Avocado contains persin, which is a substance found in the leaves, seeds, and bark of the plant. It is definitely one of the main people foods to avoid feeding your pet as it can cause diarrhea or vomiting.

8. Milk and dairy products
Milk-based products and milk can cause digestive problems, diarrhea, vomiting in your pet. If your furry friend is fed with milk-based food items in large quantities it can cause itchy food allergies.

9. Peaches, plums, and persimmons
The seeds of these fruits can cause a very serious problem in the intestines of your pets. The seed contains a poisonous substance called cyanide that is extremely harmful, making them food items to stay away from.
